Dumbbell One-Arm Shoulder Press (Neutral Grip)

The dumbbell one-arm neutral-grip shoulder press is a unilateral overhead pressing exercise performed with the palm facing inward. It primarily trains the deltoids while the triceps assist with elbow extension. This exercise supports upper-body pressing strength, shoulder control, and side-to-side strength balance.

Technique tips

  1. Choose a load that allows you to keep your torso upright without leaning sideways.
  2. Keep the dumbbell close to a vertical path rather than pressing it forward.
  3. Do not shrug the working shoulder toward your ear during the press.
  4. Stop the set if you cannot control the lowering phase or maintain a comfortable shoulder position.
