Revolved Abdomen Pose

Revolved Abdomen Pose is a supine yoga twist in which bent legs move to one side while the upper body remains grounded. It gently mobilizes the spine and hips while engaging the abdominal muscles, especially the obliques, to control the position. It can support trunk mobility, relaxation, and body awareness.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Lie on your back with your arms extended at shoulder height, palms facing up, and your knees bent with feet on the floor.
  2. Draw both knees toward your chest and gently engage your lower abdominals to keep the pelvis controlled.
  3. Exhale and lower both knees to one side, keeping the movement slow and allowing only a comfortable range of spinal rotation.
  4. Keep both shoulders grounded if comfortable, turn your head away from the knees if your neck feels relaxed, and breathe steadily for several breaths.
  5. Use your abdominals to return to center, then repeat on the other side with the same controlled range.

Technique tips

  1. Move gradually: do not force the knees toward the floor or pull them down with your arms.
  2. Keep the twist comfortable: place a cushion under the knees if they do not reach the floor without strain.
  3. Breathe smoothly: use each exhale to soften into the position rather than deepen it aggressively.
  4. Protect your neck: keep your head centered if turning it creates discomfort.
