Single-Leg Balance Hold Left

Single-Leg Balance Hold Left is a static balance exercise performed while standing on the left leg. It primarily challenges the left glutes and leg stabilizers, while engaging the core and lower leg to maintain alignment. It supports balance, coordination, ankle control, and single-leg stability for daily movement and training.

Instructions

  1. Set up near stable support such as a wall or sturdy chair, leaving enough space to stand upright.
  2. Stand tall with both feet under the hips, then shift your weight gradually onto the left foot.
  3. Lift the right foot just off the floor, keeping the right knee comfortably bent and the pelvis level.
  4. Keep a soft bend in the left knee, press the whole left foot into the floor, and maintain a long spine with the ribs stacked over the pelvis.
  5. Hold steadily while breathing normally, then lower the right foot with control. Use light fingertip support if balance is lost.

Technique tips

  1. Keep the tripod foot contact: maintain pressure through the heel, base of the big toe, and base of the little toe.
  2. Do not lock the left knee. A soft knee helps you make small balance corrections.
  3. Keep the hips level; avoid letting the right side of the pelvis drop or rotating the torso.
  4. Start with eyes forward and nearby support, then reduce support only when you can hold steady control.
