Standing Quad Stretch

The standing quad stretch is a static stretch performed by drawing one heel toward the buttocks while standing. It primarily lengthens the quadriceps at the front of the thigh and can support lower-body mobility and flexibility.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Stand tall with your feet about hip-width apart near a stable support if needed.
  2. Shift your weight onto one foot and bend the other knee, bringing that heel toward your buttocks.
  3. Hold the raised foot or ankle with the hand on the same side.
  4. Keep your knees close together, your pelvis neutral, and your torso upright.
  5. Hold the stretch comfortably, then release with control and repeat on the other side.

Technique tips

  1. Use a wall, chair, or rail for light balance assistance rather than twisting your body to stay upright.
  2. Avoid pulling the foot forcefully; move only to a comfortable stretch sensation.
  3. Keep the standing knee soft and avoid arching your lower back as you hold the position.
