Aerobics

Aerobics is a rhythmic, continuous exercise session performed to music, usually using repeated low- or moderate-impact movements. It primarily develops cardiovascular endurance while involving the legs, glutes, core, and upper body. It can support general fitness, coordination, and calorie expenditure.

Instructions

  1. Prepare a clear space with stable, non-slip flooring and wear supportive footwear.
  2. Warm up with easy marching, shoulder rolls, and gentle side steps for several minutes.
  3. Begin the routine at a manageable pace, using simple movements such as marching, step touches, knee lifts, and controlled arm swings.
  4. Keep alignment controlled: stand tall, keep the core lightly engaged, and land softly with knees tracking in line with the toes.
  5. Adjust intensity by reducing arm range, pace, or impact; use marching instead of jumps when needed.
  6. Cool down by gradually slowing to an easy march, then perform gentle stretches.

Technique tips

  1. Choose sustainable effort: you should be able to speak in short phrases while moving.
  2. Use low-impact options if jumping causes discomfort or makes landing control difficult.
  3. Land quietly and avoid locking the knees during repeated steps.
  4. Keep hydrated and stop if you feel dizzy, unwell, or unable to maintain controlled movement.
