Cool Down Walk

A cool-down walk is an easy walk performed after more demanding exercise to gradually reduce intensity. It keeps the cardiovascular system moving gently while involving the legs and supporting a comfortable transition toward recovery. It can help end a workout in a controlled, relaxed way.

Instructions

  1. Finish the main workout and begin walking at an easy, comfortable pace on a clear, level route.
  2. Stand tall with your head up, shoulders relaxed, and arms swinging naturally by your sides.
  3. Take smooth, short-to-natural steps, landing softly and rolling through the foot without forcing your stride.
  4. Gradually slow down over several minutes until your breathing and effort feel comfortable; stop if you feel dizzy, unwell, or have pain.

Technique tips

  1. Keep the effort easy: you should be able to speak comfortably while walking.
  2. Do not stop abruptly after hard exercise; let your pace decrease gradually.
  3. Choose secure footing and stay aware of traffic, people, and uneven surfaces.
