Kneeling Side Bend Stretch

The kneeling side bend stretch is a static mobility exercise performed from a tall kneeling position while leaning the torso to one side. It primarily stretches the obliques and side of the torso, with the latissimus dorsi also contributing, and can support trunk mobility and comfortable overhead reaching.

Demonstration

Technique tips

  1. Keep both hips level and avoid shifting them sideways as you lean.
  2. Lengthen through the spine rather than collapsing the chest forward.
  3. Use a smaller side bend if you feel pinching in the low back or shoulder.
  4. Breathe slowly and allow the stretch to deepen gradually without bouncing.
