Weight Plate Neck Resistance Supine

Supine Weight Plate Neck Resistance is a neck-flexion exercise performed lying on your back while carefully supporting a light weight plate against the forehead. It primarily strengthens the neck flexors and can support neck strength and control. The movement requires slow, controlled repetitions and conservative loading.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Lie face up with your upper back supported and your head positioned so it can move freely; keep your body stable.
  2. Hold a light weight plate flat against your forehead with both hands throughout the exercise.
  3. Begin with your neck in a comfortable, neutral position and gently tuck your chin, lifting your head through a small, controlled range.
  4. Pause briefly without straining, then slowly return to neutral while continuing to support the plate.
  5. Keep your shoulders relaxed and your torso still; complete all repetitions smoothly.
  6. Stop immediately if you feel sharp pain, dizziness, numbness, or unusual symptoms.

Technique tips

  1. Start very light. The neck generally needs far less load than larger muscle groups.
  2. Use a small, pain-free range of motion; do not force your chin toward your chest.
  3. Keep both hands on the plate at all times and avoid jerking, bouncing, or rapid repetitions.
