Kettlebell Turkish Get-Up Squat

The Kettlebell Turkish Get-Up Squat combines the controlled transitions of a Turkish get-up with a squat while keeping a kettlebell stabilized overhead. It primarily develops shoulder stability, core control, hip and leg strength, balance, and whole-body coordination. It supports functional strength and overhead control with a deliberately slow, precise movement.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Set up: Lie on your back with one knee bent, the kettlebell held in the same-side hand, and that arm locked vertically above the shoulder.
  2. Rise under control: Roll to your opposite elbow, then to your hand. Keep your eyes on the kettlebell and maintain a straight wrist and packed shoulder.
  3. Move to standing: Sweep the straight leg underneath into a half-kneeling position, bring the torso upright, then stand while keeping the kettlebell overhead.
  4. Squat and return: Perform a controlled squat with the arm locked out, stand again, then reverse every get-up step slowly to return the kettlebell to the floor. Complete all repetitions on one side before changing sides.

Technique tips

  1. Choose a light load: Learn the movement with a kettlebell you can stabilize confidently overhead throughout every transition.
  2. Keep the arm vertical: Stack the kettlebell over the shoulder and avoid letting the elbow bend or the wrist fold back.
  3. Control the squat depth: Descend only as far as you can maintain a neutral trunk, stable knees, and full control of the overhead weight.
