Leverage Incline Chest Press

The leverage incline chest press is a machine-based pressing exercise performed on an inclined seat and back pad. It primarily trains the upper chest, while the front shoulders and triceps assist the press. It supports upper-body pushing strength and chest muscle development with a guided movement path.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Set the machine so the handles begin around upper-chest level and your back is supported comfortably by the inclined pad.
  2. Sit with both feet flat on the floor, keep your head and upper back against the pads, and grasp the handles with a secure, even grip.
  3. Brace your torso and keep your wrists aligned with your forearms. Start with the handles close to the chest without letting the shoulders roll forward.
  4. Exhale as you press the handles forward and upward along the machine path until your arms are nearly straight. Do not forcefully lock the elbows.
  5. Lower slowly while inhaling until you reach a comfortable chest stretch and the handles return under control.
  6. Repeat for the planned repetitions, then return the handles carefully to the resting position before releasing them.

Technique tips

  1. Choose a manageable load. The weight should allow a controlled return without the stack or levers dropping abruptly.
  2. Keep the chest lifted against the pad and avoid shrugging the shoulders toward the ears.
  3. Use a comfortable range. Do not lower so far that the shoulders feel pinched or the upper back loses contact with the pad.
  4. Keep both sides pressing evenly; reduce the load if one arm consistently moves ahead of the other.
