Parallel Bar Hip Flexion

Parallel Bar Hip Flexion is a supported hip-flexion exercise performed while holding the body up on parallel bars. It primarily trains the hip flexors, with the abdominals helping stabilize the pelvis and trunk. It can support lower-body control and core stability.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Grip the parallel bars firmly and press down to support your body with straight arms.
  2. Keep your chest tall, shoulders down, and pelvis steady; let your legs hang together beneath you.
  3. Exhale and flex at the hips to raise both thighs forward in a smooth, controlled motion.
  4. Lift only as high as you can without swinging, leaning back excessively, or losing shoulder position.
  5. Inhale as you lower your legs slowly to the starting position, then repeat.

Technique tips

  1. Avoid swinging: pause briefly at the bottom if momentum develops.
  2. Keep the ribs stacked over the pelvis rather than arching your lower back to lift higher.
  3. Use a controlled range of motion and stop if the shoulder support position becomes uncomfortable.
