Leg Swing

Leg swings are a dynamic mobility exercise in which one leg moves in a controlled arc while the torso stays stable. They warm up the hips and upper-leg muscles, especially the hip flexors, hamstrings, quadriceps, and glutes. They are useful before running, lower-body training, and other activities that require hip mobility.

Instructions

  1. Stand tall beside a wall or sturdy support, placing one hand on it for balance.
  2. Shift your weight onto one leg, brace your abdomen lightly, and keep a soft bend in the standing knee.
  3. Swing the free leg forward and backward in a smooth, controlled arc while keeping your torso upright.
  4. Use a comfortable range of motion, then complete the desired repetitions and repeat on the other side.

Technique tips

  1. Move with control: do not kick or use momentum to force a larger range.
  2. Keep your pelvis and torso steady rather than arching your lower back or twisting.
  3. Start with small swings and gradually increase the range only while movement remains comfortable.
