Cable Lower Chest Raise

The high-to-low cable chest fly is a standing cable exercise in which the handles are brought down and together in front of the hips. It primarily targets the lower portion of the chest, while the front shoulders and arms assist. It can support chest muscle development and controlled pressing-pattern strength.

Demonstration

Instructions

  1. Set both cable pulleys above shoulder height and attach single handles. Select a light load that you can control.
  2. Stand centered between the pulleys in a staggered stance, lean slightly forward, and brace your abdomen. Hold a handle in each hand with a soft bend in the elbows.
  3. Begin with the arms open and slightly behind the torso, keeping the chest lifted and shoulders down.
  4. Exhale and sweep the handles down and together in a wide arc until they meet in front of the hips.
  5. Briefly squeeze the chest without shrugging or bending the elbows further.
  6. Inhale and slowly return to the open position under control. Keep the torso still and stop if the shoulders feel painful.

Technique tips

  1. Keep a fixed elbow angle: changing it turns the movement into a press or triceps exercise.
  2. Use a slow return; do not let the stack pull your arms backward.
  3. Keep the shoulders down and slightly back rather than rounding them forward.
  4. Use a load that allows a smooth arc and a brief chest contraction at the bottom.
