Kneeling Forearm Stretch

The kneeling forearm stretch is a floor-based mobility exercise performed on hands and knees with the wrists positioned to gently lengthen the forearms. It primarily targets the forearm and wrist muscles and can support wrist mobility, grip-related training, and comfort during exercises that load the hands.

Instructions

  1. Start on hands and knees on a comfortable, stable surface, with your hands under your shoulders and knees under your hips.
  2. Place your palms on the floor with your fingers pointing back toward your knees; keep the palms as flat as is comfortable.
  3. Keep your elbows softly straight and your shoulders relaxed, then slowly shift your hips backward until you feel a gentle stretch through the forearms and wrists.
  4. Hold the position while breathing steadily, keeping the sensation mild and controlled rather than painful.
  5. Shift your weight forward to release, then return the hands to a neutral position before standing or repeating.

Technique tips

  1. Use light pressure: gradually shift your weight rather than forcing the wrists into a deep angle.
  2. Keep your palms and fingers in contact with the floor only as far as comfortable; reduce the range if the heels of the hands lift.
  3. Do not push through sharp pain, tingling, or numbness. Ease out and use a gentler position instead.
  4. Breathe slowly and keep the shoulders away from the ears to avoid adding unnecessary tension.
