Quadricep Stretch

The quadriceps stretch lengthens the muscles on the front of the thigh, usually by bending the knee and drawing the heel toward the glutes. It supports lower-body flexibility and can be useful in warm-ups or cool-downs. Keep the pelvis neutral and avoid forcing the range of motion.

Instructions

  1. Stand tall with your feet about hip-width apart and hold a stable support if balance is needed.
  2. Shift your weight into one foot, bend the opposite knee, and bring that heel toward your glutes.
  3. Hold the ankle or top of the foot with the hand on the same side, keeping the knees close together.
  4. Gently tuck the pelvis and squeeze the glute of the stretching leg without arching the lower back.
  5. Hold a comfortable stretch through the front of the thigh while breathing steadily.
  6. Release slowly and repeat on the other side.

Technique tips

  1. Do not pull hard. Use only enough pressure to feel a mild-to-moderate stretch, never sharp pain.
  2. Keep the stretching knee pointing down rather than letting it drift forward or outward.
  3. Avoid arching your back. A gentle glute squeeze helps keep the stretch focused on the thigh.
  4. Use a wall or chair for balance so you can maintain controlled alignment.
