Air Bike

The air bike is a fan-resistance stationary bike that uses pedals and moving handles to train the whole body. It primarily develops cardiovascular conditioning while the legs, glutes, arms, shoulders, and trunk work together. It supports endurance, interval training, and high-intensity conditioning.

Instructions

  1. Adjust the seat so that your knee remains slightly bent at the bottom of each pedal stroke.
  2. Sit tall with both feet secured on the pedals, hands on the moving handles, and your chest lifted.
  3. Begin smoothly by pedaling while pushing and pulling the handles in a coordinated rhythm.
  4. Control your effort by increasing or reducing cadence; fan resistance rises as you move faster.
  5. Finish gradually by easing the pace for several minutes rather than stopping abruptly.

Technique tips

  1. Keep your torso steady and avoid rounding your back or shrugging your shoulders.
  2. Use both the legs and handles rather than relying heavily on one part of the body.
  3. Build intensity progressively, especially during intervals, and keep a pace you can control.
